Now we come to the candle of JOY, despite all of the celebrations, hugs and moments we have missed for God’s joy ignites embers under loss and sorrow and brings the light of steadfast love.

The first Sunday of Advent: HOPE! Today the flame of this candle reminds us of the true HOPE that came to this world when God chose to be with us and Jesus was born. This light of God-With-Us shines and brightens the shadows of the world.
