Joshua’s Closet – Joshua’s Closet is a Thrift Store for our community, providing clothing, household items, books, and more! Find things for the whole family at very affordable prices. The schedule for Joshua’s Closet is:
- Tuesdays from 10am – noon.
- The second and fourth Wednesdays of the month from 4 – 6pm.
- The first and third Saturdays of the month from 10am – noon.
Meals for the Community – On the second and fourth Wednesday of every month from 5-6 pm, we provide a meal for whoever wants free food! We offer in-person meals where we can share food and fellowship together!
Bread Ministry – A leading bakery donates large quantities of bread, rolls, snacks, and other bakery products to our church on a regular basis. We then distribute the food items to church and community members through our food pantry and feeding ministries. This stretches the food budgets of many in our neighborhood and provides food to some who otherwise might go hungry. The impact does not end in our local community, however. We also distribute these generous donations to over a dozen charities in Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Howard, Prince George’s, and Talbot counties, as well as Baltimore City and even Pennsylvania, greatly extending the impact and scope of their effect. For more information read this article from our blog.
South West Emergency Services (SWES) – We partner with SWES in providing help and support to the local community. SWES is a non-profit organization that assists clients in our neighborhood with financial difficulties. SWES provides a food pantry and financial aid (for anything from eviction/foreclosure, prescription assistance, emergency utilities and much more).
Mitten Tree – Each year during the Christmas season, we collect new items (mittens, gloves, hats, scarfs, socks, gift cards for coats, etc.) to keep local children warm during the winter months. These items are distributed in partnership with the elementary schools in the area.
Pennies from Heaven – Throughout the year, we collect spare change from congregants and at the end of the year, donate it to United Methodist senior living facilities to help support their residents.
Board of Child Care – Along with other congregations in our conference, we support the work of the United Methodist Board of Child Care. The Board provides a home for children and depends on the church community for financial support to buy food, clothing, school supplies etc. for the children who live there.
United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) – Together with other United Methodist congregations, we support UMCOR in its global mission to provide disaster relief, recovery, and long-term health and development to communities in need in the United States and around the world.
